Greg Mizel has served the Poway Unified School District for over 20 years, as a middle school principal, high school principal, assistant superintendent, associate superintendent, and now as interim superintendent.
He was recently named Counseling Administrator of the Year by the San Diego County Office of Education in addition to the Student Support Services Administrator of the Year by the Association of California School Administrators. “He has an excellent reputation, meaningful relationships, and cares deeply for each and every student and staff member in PUSD,” O’Connor-Ratcliff said in a statement. “The strength of every member of this team is vital to the important work supporting our students, families and staff. I want to sincerely thank our community for your patience and understanding while we work to resolve these matters.”
“My interest in serving in this role is to ensure our students and staff members get the support they need as we navigate this difficult moment,” he said in a press release. “One thing I’ve learned during my tenure in PUSD, our students are supported by highly skilled and incredibly dedicated people. I am confident that our best days are ahead.”
