PUSD English Language Arts Pilot 2024 -2025

Learning Support Services is excited to share with our community that our middle schools are piloting two texts to recommend for adoption in English Language Arts classrooms. To guide their selection, the pilot team has thoroughly reviewed the CA ELA/ELD Framework and the CA Common Core Standards. After a thorough review of the available state-adopted publishers, the team selected AmplifyELA and McGraw Hill’s StudySync. Poway Unified School District welcomes you to review the materials and complete the feedback forms listed below, if you would like to provide feedback on these instructional materials.

Guiding Resources

The recommendation was guided by the curriculum outline set forth by the California Department of Education. PUSD Instructional Materials Adoption Board Policy (BP) and Administrative Regulations (AR). Please see below to review.

CA Common Core Standards

  • Educational standards are the learning goals for what students should know and be able to do at each grade level. The standards are WHAT is being taught.

CA ELA/ELD Framework

  • The  framework is research-informed models for course design that help teachers align learning goals with classroom activities, create motivating and inclusive environments, and integrate assessment into learning. The framework supports HOW the standards are taught.
