Poway Unified in RB's Spirit of the 4th Parade

Poway Unified School District staff, students, and families were excited to participate in the 4th of July festivities in Rancho Bernardo. The 54th annual Spirit of the Fourth parade kicked off at 3:30pm with all five PUSD high school marching bands and color guard: Del Norte High School, Mt. Carmel High School, Poway High School, Rancho Bernardo High School, and Westview High School.

This year's Grand Marshal for the parade was retired choir teacher, Lisa Friedrichs, who taught choir at Rancho Bernardo high School for 29 years.

A crowd favorite was the antique fire truck, which carried Poway Unified Board of Education Members: Dr. Darshana Patel, Michelle O'Connor Ratcliff, Ginger Couvrette, and Heather Plotzke. Also on board were PUSD Teachers of the Year Carrie Jennings, Christina Bass, and Sanford Carvajal and PUSD Classifed Employee of the Year Gloria Tran.

Following the parade, crowds flocked to Bernardo Heights Middle School and Rancho Bernardo High School to view the fireworks show.
