The Academy timeline for the 2020-21 school year

 Early January 2020-  Information sent to elementary schools about The Academy.
                                    5th grade families can expect a letter sent home with their child regarding 
                                    information about The Academy Information Meeting held on Wednesday
                                    January 22nd, 2020, in the MBMS gymnasium.

January 22, 2020-      6:00 - 7:30 p.m. Parent and student informational meeting at MBMS. 5th graders  
                                    and interested 6th and 7th graders (parents/guardians & students) not currently
                                    in The Academy may attend to learn about The Academy program and receive
                                    an Interest Form.

January 30, 2020-      
Interest Form available online on MBMS website.
February 5, 2020-       Deadline for Interest Forms.  
Interest Forms must be turned in to the MBMS
                                     office no later than 3:15pm on February 5th, 2020. If you need an Intra-District
                                     Transfer (IDT) to attend MBMS, you will need to complete the IDT online.  More

Early March, 2020-        Beginning of notification to families of incoming sixth graders. 
Emails will be sent
                                        to all those who completed an Interest Form. 

Mid-March, 2020-           Beginning of notification to current Academy students. 
Emails will be sent
                                         notifying current families of their child’s eligibility to continue. 

Early April, 2020-            Beginning of notification to new 7th and 8th grade Academy students. 
 Emails will be sent to all families notifying them of acceptance (based on available
                                            space) or waitlist status. 

April 29, 2020-                Mandatory Family Night for all new 6th, 7th, and 8th grade Academy Families.

                                       (If a family has both a continuing Academy student and a new sixth
                                        grade Academy student, families and students should attend this meeting.)

May 6, 2020-                  Mandatory Family Night for all continuing 7th and 8th grade Academy Families.

                                        If a family has both a returning Academy student and a new Academy student, it is
                                        better to attend the April 29th Family Night.

 Meadowbrook Academy Lottery Process

  • District staff from IT and Learning Support Services (LSS) worked with the site staff to identify rules for the lottery to prioritize selection.
  • Siblings of continuing students, including twins or multiple births, are given priority if they have completed all expected requirements.
  • PUSD employee who works at Meadowbrook in alignment with CA ED code are given priority. 
  • All other students are randomly selected through a lottery from the remaining Interest Forms.
  • Children who live in PUSD attendance area and are interested in transferring, 85% of the draw is from elementary feeder schools of MBMS and 15% are from outside of the feeder schools area.
