|Jason Schafer has been a part of the BMMS counseling team since 2003. Prior to working at BMMS he was an elementary school counselor in Chula Vista and worked for a San Diego non-profit organization as a marriage and family therapist.
Jason grew up in Southern California, but moved to Tacoma, Washington to earn his Bachelor of Art's degree from Pacific Lutheran University. After missing the sunshine in SoCal, he and his wife moved down to San Diego for graduate school. Jason has his Master's of Arts degree in Marriage, Family, and Child Counseling and his Pupil Personnel Service (School Counseling) Credential from the University of San Diego.
Jason lives with his wife and two children in Chula Vista. He loves spending his free time watching his kid's sports (soccer, basketball, and robotics club), traveling, camping, and running.
|Monica Taylor joined the Black Mountain team in 2016. She started her counseling career in 2007 in Escondido at a continuation high school.
Monica grew in Los Angeles and then moved to San Diego to attend U.C. San Diego. She was the first in her family to earn a college degree; she earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology. She then earned her Master of Arts in Counseling and Pupil Personnel Service Credential from the University of San Diego.
Monica lives in Poway with her two children and husband. When she is not at work she enjoys spending time with her family, road/mountain biking, camping, reading and baking.
|Andrew Lightner joined Black Mountain Middle School in 2018. Andrew grew up in Sacramento. He attended Sonoma State University and received his BS in Business Administration. He moved to San Diego in 2004 and worked as a banker, marketing consultant and analyst. He decided to return to school, attended Chapman University and received his PPS and Masters in Counseling. He began working in counseling in 2010. He worked for San Diego City schools for several years before joining Black Mountain.
In his spare time, he enjoys surfing, hiking, going to the gym and spending time with family and friends.
