Smarter Balanced State Assessment Results Coming
This past spring, students in grades 3 – 8 and in grade 11 took the 2017 Smarter Balanced Assessment in Mathematics and Language Arts.  We anticipate your student’s results will arrive at your home via the U.S. mail in mid-September.   Please see the attached letter for more information.

JOG-A-THON
The Jog-A-Thon committee is looking for donations for our top prizes. If you work for a company that would be willing to help with a prize, please let Jennifer Hunsaker know as soon as possible (i.e., if a parent works for Jack in the Box, would Jack in the Box be willing to donate a gift card or something for the Jog-A-Thon?). Also, if you'd like to help with the Jog-A-Thon this year, email Jennifer at jenhunsaker@gmail.com. Thanks so much!

YEARBOOK WORKSHOP
The first yearbook workshop of the year will be taking place Thursday, Sept. 28 at 1 p.m. in Sundance's Computer Lab (Room 33). Join yearbook staffers for an easy way to buy your yearbook and, if you're ready, get a head start on your free personalized pages. If you buy your yearbook before Sept. 30, you'll get it at the lowest price of the year: $16.96 for a softcover version. That price includes 15% off of $19.95 plus the two free personalized pages. Join us, and get ready to make some great memories this year! (Also, if you can't attend, you can always purchase your yearbook by going to www.treering.com/validate, and using the passcode 1014697386031160.)

RUNNING CLUB
This past Wednesday, Running Club started for students in 1st-5th grade. In order to keep our regular Monday, Wednesday, Friday Running Club days, we still need AT LEAST two (2) more volunteers to help out. We also need people who can be subs on the days our Running Club volunteers cannot make it (due to sick children, doctor's visits, etc.). Running Club is held from 10:05-11:10am every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. It is a great way to volunteer, to get to know all the students in the school, and to watch your children be active. Please contact Jennifer Hunsaker at 858-538-4548 or jenhunsaker@gmail.com if you have time to be a volunteer for Running Club. If we don't get volunteers by next Friday (September 15th), we will have to consolidate our volunteers to two days a week. Thanks so much for your support
CHESS CLUB
The Sundance Chess Club has begun! Kindergartners through 5th grade students are still welcome to join. Interested students must know how the pieces move. The Club will focus on sportsmanship, strategies and tactics. (PLEASE SEE THE ATTACHED INFORMATION AND ENROLL ONLINE)

LUNCH ACCOUNTS
The PUSD Food and Nutrition department is excited to offer some great new items on the menu. Check it out at www.powayusdnutrition.com.  To purchase lunch, please either send cash or check to the Sundance office or go online at www.myschoolbucks.com to add to their account.  It is always helpful to have your child practice his or her ID number at home.  Kindergarten – 2nd grade students will be given a card with their number.
