Welcome to a New School Year!

Welcome to the 2018-2019 school year!  We cannot wait to jump into a new year filled with learning and adventure and exploration.  Staff has been hard at work ensuring we are ready to welcome each and every Wildcat into our learning community.  Our work as a No Excuses University (NEU) school continues as we put exceptional systems in place to meet the individual needs of each student.  We are committed to providing a meaningful and challenging curriculum for each student within a safe and joyful learning environment.

There are so many amazing things awaiting our students this year.  Last year, Kindergarten through 2ndgrade students began using brand new language arts curriculum.  As these grades continue into their second year of Benchmark Advanced, our students in grades 3-5 will also join in the Benchmark curriculum.  Our Voyager program continues this year and spreads into even more classrooms.  This program brings us specialized coaching as teachers personalize learning for each student to allow students to have a voice and choice in their learning and take increased responsibility for their learning.  Students in grades 1-5 have access to one-to-one ChromeBooks, with some ChromeBooks also available for our kindergarteners to begin using.  We’ll be working on helping students discover their passions and strengths so that they know about the many possibilities that lie ahead of them and are fully prepared for college if they choose to attend in the future.  This will include work in our brand new Innovation Lab.  Students will complete activities that allow them to explore and reflect on different learning/working environments.  The lab will include opportunities for coding, video production, building and more.  This will also be the perfect place to go deeper into Next Generation Science Standards.

Our learning team is made so much stronger due to the incredible efforts of our parents.  Thank you for all you do to help not only your own child be successful, but our school as a whole.  Your donations of time, money and/or supplies are appreciated more than you know.  Your support is an important part of our community, and we look forward to seeing many of you at different events throughout the school year.

We are honored that you are entrusting us with your child this school year.  We’re looking forward to a fantastic year where there are no limits to what each student can achieve.  We know that if we work together and remember to all Work Hard, Be Kind, and let No Excuse stand in our way each Wildcat will be firmly on his/her way to college and career readiness.  It’s going to be another wonderful year at Pomerado . . .

GO WILDCATS!
