 RANCH ROUND UP - August 11, 2017
Principal’s Message:
Welcome to a new year at Highland Ranch Elementary School!   It’s going to be an amazing year of learning as we all come together and joyfully bring our students the best education possible.       Highland Ranch is a school with motivated students, enthusiastic teachers, and engaged parents who come together to prepare Stallions for their future.  This year, there are many opportunities for you to be a part of the Ranch.   You can join the PTA or Foundation, volunteer in the classroom, become a member of our school wide parent book club, bring your special talents to the entire school or classroom through assemblies or already existing programs, and of course, we welcome parents’ suggestions on how to make our school inclusive and responsive to the community.  Want to learn more?  Then mark your calendars for Back to School Night on August 24th.   At Back to School Night, we will be having a school wide celebration and presentation from 5:30 to 6:10 p.m., as well as classroom presentations for grades first through fifth.   If you’re a kindergarten parent, you are encouraged to attend this 45 minute presentation to become an active member of our school, as well as attend the Kindergarten and Transitional Kindergarten Back to School Night on August 22nd.  (details follow)
Each Friday, you will receive a Ranch Round Up that informs you of upcoming events.   If you want quick text reminders, you can sign up for Remind.Com by  following the attached instructions.  Don’t forget to go to our Google calendar for upcoming events:
I am looking forward to another year leading this fabulous school!
Most sincerely,
Mrs. Venolia

The Highland Ranch PTA thought that it would be fun to have a theme for the year to get the students, families, teachers, and staff excited about school and family programs for the school year. The PTA chose a Hollywood theme. Don't be surprised if you see movie, Academy, or Oscar related items around campus and during PTA-sponsored programs. You might get to walk down the red carpet, have a Hollywood star with your name on it, watch a movie outdoors at school, or even earn an Oscar.
POPSICLE POSTINGS AND NEW STUDENT TOURS:  Tuesday, August 22, 4:00 – 5:15 p.m.  in the MPR
Everyone is so excited for the new school year to begin. Come find out who your teachers and classmates are on August 22 at 4:00 PM in the MPR. For parents who are new to the school, 5th graders are excited to give you a tour of the school. The Highland Ranch PTA will be passing out popsicles.
PARENTS: Wednesday,  August 23, 7:45 in the MPR
The Highland Ranch PTA presents, "Boo-Hoo / Yahoo Breakfast." Can't believe you're sending your little one off to school? Whether you're shedding tears of sorrow or joy, be sure to join us in the MPR for a Boo-Hoo / Yahoo Breakfast on the first day of school after dropping off the kiddos. We will lend a shoulder or jump for joy with you.
