Connect 5 Bulletins

Dear Garden Road School Families,
I wanted to let you know that the entire Garden Road staff is thinking of our students and families, and sending positive thoughts your way. I know that these are very challenging and trying times for everyone in our community.  Together we will help each other get through this.
You may have received a message from your child’s teacher/s about doing school work during the closure.  I appreciate our teachers' work to pull enrichment activities together for our students and I want to clarify that the enrichment activities are OPTIONAL.  The enrichment activities will not be graded.
The district will be sending out information about additional on-line resources this coming week.  From time to time, your classroom teachers and I will also be sharing some resources for your optional use.
We are pleased to share that there will be grab and go sack lunches meals served at all school sites.  You can come to Garden Road between 11:30 – 12:30 p.m. to receive the bagged lunch.  We have a table set up in front of the MPR gate, where we have student pick up and drop off.  The students do need to be present.  Breakfast is being served at several locations such as Valley ES, Midland, and Poway H.S.
With all the changes and uncertainty going on, it is often beneficial to create a daily schedule and routine for the children to follow.  Here is a sample of a daily schedule that was posted that might be helpful for families to follow during the school closure:

8 am- Wake up & Breakfast
9-10am- Morning outside time (walk, hike, yoga, Go Noodle)
10-11 am- Learning Time (reading, writing, math, science)
11-12pm- Creative Time (Legos, art, painting, baking, cooking, music, drawing)
12- 12:30- Lunch time (invite the kids to help make lunch with you!)
12:30-1 Chore Time (clean up, dishes, dust, vacuum, organization)
1-2pm- Quite Time (reading, puzzles)
2-3:30- Learning Time (STEAM, reading, writing, math, science, social studies, current events)

5:30- Family Dinner!
6- Family clean up time!
6:30- Free Time

*Repeat 🙂
Thank you for your patience, understanding, and continued support during this challenging time. Stay safe and healthy.  Please tell the children how much we miss them and send our love.
