New! PUSD’s plan to transition from optional learning resources to distance learning and instruction on April 6

REMINDER! Food Services During School Closures

Starting Monday, March 23rd, PUSD will be consolidating meal service. From 11am to 1pm Monday through Friday, we will now be offering lunch and breakfast together. We hope that this will be more convenient for our families, allowing students to have one pick up time that includes both lunch and breakfast for the following day. This decision was based on feedback from our families as well as the data collected from the actual number of meals distributed this week.

These meals are free for anyone 18 years or younger in our community or for any PUSD Transition student 22 years or younger, but we ask that students needing meals be physically present for an accurate count. The meals will be available at the following 12 centralized school sites; please drive up or walk up to the site nearest you:

-Del Norte High School (16601 Nighthawk Lane, San Diego, CA 92127)

-Los Penasquitos Elementary School (14125 Cuca St., San Diego CA 92129)

REMINDER! TK  Interest Waitlist Information:

Parents of children with a fifth birthday between June 1st and September 1st  who wish to enroll their child into a TK class, rather than a Kindergarten class, MUST place their child’s name on a District Interest Waitlist.  Below are the steps for parents/guardians to take if they would like their child to attend TK rather than Kindergarten for the 2020-2021 school year.  Please note that this is a new process. Information can also be found on the PUSD website as well.

  • Enroll your student in kindergarten at your school of residence during the first week of May.

  • Once enrolled and your student’s birthdate is verified, the school will give you instructions on how to place your student’s name on the TK Interest List later in May.

  • Students will be placed on a first-come-first-serve basis. As always, due to increased numbers of students required to enroll in TK because of their age, space is limited. Students will be seated on a space-available basis according to the TK Interest List and possibly not at their home school.

  •  Interest List placement is NOT a guarantee that a child will get a TK seat.

  • The TK Interest List is open only to students who live in the PUSD boundaries.

  •  The student is returned automatically to his/her school of residence at the beginning of the following school year for Kindergarten.

If you have questions about the TK Interest List, please email pusdtk@pusd.com

REMINDER! Enrollment/Transfer Procedure

If you live in the Poway Unified School District boundaries and are interested in requesting a transfer to a school that is not your school of residence, you must submit a request during the transfer window of February 1 – March 31, 2020. No transfer requests will be accepted outside of this window, and no exceptions will be made. Note: if your student is currently on an Intradistrict Transfer and is moving to the next level (elementary to middle or middle to high school), he/she does not automatically move to the next school with their classmates. You must reapply for an Intradistrict Transfer. If your child is currently on an Intradistrict Transfer, his/her siblings do not automatically get into the transfer school. You must apply for a separate Transfer for the sibling. Please click the link below for more information and frequently asked questions on transfer requests, as well as upcoming timelines for continuing student registration and new student enrollment.
