The Poway Unified School District is proud to announce the appointment of Del Norte High School junior, Sinead Kiley, as the 2024-25 Student Board Member.
On April 23, 2024, 8 finalists from high schools across PUSD were interviewed by a Board sub-committee, consisting of the Interim Superintendent, two Board Members, Chief Communications Officer, and the current Student Board Member. The sub-committee recommended Sinead Kiley as their final selection. Raina Agrawal of Poway High School was named the alternate, if, for any reason, Sinead is unable to serve.
“Sinead impressed the committee with her passion for working with children and addressing learning gaps among disadvantaged students and English learners through tutoring support, summer programs, and opportunities to create belonging. She is an excellent communicator and listener, and she will represent students well,” said Interim Superintendent Greg Mizel.
Sinead’s term of office will be her senior year, starting with the August 15, 2024, board meeting and concluding with the June 2025 meeting. Her duties will include providing continuing input for Board deliberations (excluding discipline, personnel, and employer-employee relations), strengthening communications between the Board and students, and representing all students and facilitating the discussion of all sides of an issue.
