2017-18 School Year APPLICATION TIMELINE

The Academy timeline for the 2017-18 school year:
Early January 2017-  Information sent to elementary schools about The Academy.
January 25, 2017- 6:00 - 7:30 p.m. Parent and student informational meeting at MBMS. 5th graders and interested 6th and 7th graders (parents/guardians & students) not currently in The Academy must attend to receive an Interest Form.

February 3, 2017- Deadline for Interest Forms (If you need an Intra-District Transfer to attend MBMS, you will attach the IDT form to your Interest Form.)

February 27, 2017 - Beginning of notification to families of incoming sixth graders.  Emails will be sent to all those who completed an Interest Form.  If you applied, but have not received an email by March 2, 2017, please contact Vera Lambert at vlambert@powayusd.com  because your email address may be incorrect.  If you received an email stating that your child got into The Academy, Meadowbrook will need confirmation of your acceptance no later than March 3, 2017, or your spot is given to a waitlist student.

March 20, 2017- Beginning of notification to current Academy students of their eligibility to continue.  Please check your inbox, junk and spam folders for the email and if you have not received an email by Thursday March 23, 2017, please contact Mrs. Omoto at homoto@powayusd.com.   Meadowbrook will need confirmation of your acceptance to continue in The Academy no later than March 24, 2017, or your spot is given to a waitlist student. Emails have been sent to continuing families.  PLEASE be sure to check your email folders. Deadline to respond is March 24, 2017.

April 3, 2017- New 7th and 8th grade Academy students will be notified based on space available.  Emails are sent to all who submitted an interest form notifying you of whether or not your child has a spot or is on the waitlist for 2017-2018.  Meadowbrook will need confirmation of your acceptance no later than April 7, 2017, or your spot is given to a waitlist student.

April 19, 2017- Mandatory Family Night for all new 6th, 7th, and 8th grade Academy Families.   (If a family has both a continuing Academy student and a new sixth grade Academy student, please attend this meeting.)

April 24, 2017-Bypass Email: Some families, at the discretion of site administration, will receive an email to bypass this family night if they have attended this meeting twice before (with current student in Academy), committed to returning to The Academy for the 2016-2017 school year and met all previous year’s deadlines.  If you do not receive this bypass email, you must attend the Family Night. 

May 3, 2017- Mandatory Family Night for all continuing 7th and 8th grade Academy Families. (If a family has both a continuing Academy student and a new Academy student, it is better to attend the April 19th Family Night.  No need to attend both Family Nights.)
