Weekly Monarch eBulletin

Hello Monarch Parents,
The weeks keep flying by and we have some big events happening this week.  Our kids will be wrapping up the Jump Rope For Heart Campaign on Tuesday as they jump rope with their X-ploration teacher.  We also have the all-important continuing student registration.  Again, we are at or near capacity in all grades, so it is important that you secure your spot at Monterey Ridge next year.
And finally, don’t forget to follow me on Twitter.  I have been posting some great pictures of your children engaged in fun and challenging activities!

Jump Rope for Heart is Coming Up This Tuesday, May 16
Thanks to everyone who is participating in the Jump Rope for Heart Fundraiser!

  • So far, through online donations only, we have raised $2,967 for the American Heart Association.  Last year we raised a total of over $6,200 dollars online, and we hope to get close to that this year.
  • 173 students have registered online, which is 40 more than last year. Great job everyone!
  • Everyone who gets 10 or more donations online will be entered into a drawing for a GoPro Camera.
  • If you are making a cash/check donation, please make sure to drop it off no later than Tuesday, May 16, which is the day of the event.
If you have any questions, please email Mrs. Boykin at gmurphy@powayusd.com

Statewide Testing for 3rd-5th Grades
CAASPP English Language Arts and Math Assessments will continue through June 2.
  • If you are on campus between 9 and 11:30, please be quiet in the villages and hallways because there are 3rd-5th grade students who will be taking the assessment.
  • If your child is in 3rd-5th grade, your child’s teacher will give you the exact testing schedule for his/her class.
    • Please do your best to avoid absences on the dates that your child’s class is taking the CAASPP.
    • Encourage your child to eat a good breakfast on the mornings of the test.
    • If your child arrives after 9:10am on the days their class is testing, he or she will need to remain in the office until every child in the classroom has completed the test so that the testing environment is not disrupted.

Parents of 5th grade band and orchestra students:
You are invited to the spring music concert on Thursday, May 25 at 6:30pm in the Monterey Ridge multi-purpose room. Strings students' arrival time is 5:30pm and band students' arrival time is 6:00pm.
