PHYSICAL FITNESS – MAKE IT HAPPEN AT THE RANCH!
We gratefully thank Smith Painting Contractors (family members of our own Mrs. Smith in fifth grade!). They have generously donated to our latest endeavor to engage our students in a healthy lifestyle. With Student Council donations, we will be painting a “circuit” type PE zone on the blacktop with fun and creative ways to get in shape. How can you help? We’re looking for parents to fulfill our “wish list” of items to make this happen. We have the paint, but we need brushes, rollers, tarps and trays! Come join us on Saturday, March 11th
from 9:00-12:00pm to help beautify the school campus by cleaning up around the grounds. Donuts and coffee will be provided to help jump start your day!
TK Interest Wait List Information:
Parents of children with a fifth birthday between June 1st and September 1st, 2017
who wish to enroll their child into a TK class, MUST place their name on a District Interest Wait List. After March 1, 2016, at 8:00 AM,
go to the District Website and select "TK Interest Wait List
" to put your child's name on the list. The assigned TK school site will notify parents on the Interest List starting in June, or later in the summer, of an opening in TK. The parent will then be given 48 hours to enroll. Due to increased numbers of students required to enroll in TK, please note space is very limited and will be determined on a first-come, first served basis. Please enroll in kindergarten as well on May 4th

VARIETY SHOW UPDATE
It is that time again for your talented students to whip up something special to showcase for the March 17th, 2017 Variety Show. We are excited to see your students showcasing their skill on instruments, dancing, singing and skits. All performances are needed to be under 2 minutes and permission slips are due MARCH 3...no exceptions. (Thank you for understanding)
We are also looking for (no more than) 4 Fifth graders to MC the show. Permission slips are also needed for MC positions, and your students should come prepared to showcase their introduction skills and have a joke ready to present to us at the March 9th casting call.

We are so excited to announce the 2017 Spring Foundation Auction-Tuscan Nights
! Join us on April 29th from 6-10PM at the Country Club of Rancho Bernardo. There will be a silent and live auction as well as a light dinner. This is the Foundation's biggest event of the year. The money raised at this event goes toward updating our school's technology, providing a Science & PE teacher, and other vital educational resources.
Tickets are $25 each and are available now! You can purchase tickets at Friday flag, drop a check off in the office, or mail a check to HREF Auction Tickets 14840 Waverly Downs Way, San Diego, CA 92128.

Collecting Box Tops is an easy way to earn money for our school. March 1st is the last submission for the year, so please bring in those Box Tops and give them to your teacher. Box Tops will be collected on February 23rd
. The class with the most Box Tops submission will get a popsicle party!
Kids Who Care
Hey Highland Ranch! Kids Who Care
has decided to help out a great organization called Camp Kesem!
Camp Kesem is a national nonprofit organization that serves children across the country who have been affected by a parent's cancer. Our local chapter, Camp Kesem UCSD, is just one of these 80 plus chapters that is primarily run by college student volunteers and the only chapter in San Diego. Camp Kesem needs supplies to help run their camp for 200 campers this summer! They specifically need art and craft supplies!
Here is a complete list of supplies they need
: Yarn, Puffy paint, Markers, Streamers (purple, blue, green, orange, yellow, teal, maroon, red), Balloons, Friendship bracelet string, Colored paper, Scissors (kids’ and regular), Tape (masking tape, painter’s tape), Sharpies, Pipe cleaners and any other generic arts and crafts supplies!
There are marked boxes on HRES campus where you can drop off your supplies this week! This drive will run starting this week until the beginning of March! If you have any questions, please contact either Kelly Crawley email@example.com

The Yearbook Committee will take Art Work submissions to be published in this year's book. The theme for the Yearbook Art is "DISNEY". All entries must be done on letter size paper. The last day to submit your work is Friday, April 7, 2017
. Drop your art work in the yearbook Art mailbox that will placed in the office. Help us make this yearbook colorful, cheerful and spectacular with your imagination and creativity.
Note: Yearbook Committee will try our best to include as many art work submissions. However, due to space limitations not all artwork can be featured. If you have any questions, please contact the Yearbook Committee.
In order to purchase a Highland Ranch yearbook, you will need to order online and they will NOT be sold at school. Each family has the option to personalize 2 pages for your student’s yearbook. You can go to www.TreeRing.com/validate
