August 2016
Good evening Garden Road families and students.

This is Gail West, your new principal, with your Back to School update.

Welcome to Garden Road Elementary School for the 2016-2017 school year. I am so excited to be joining you as your new principal. I am looking forward to meeting all of the Garden Road children and families and working together to create a positive, loving, and challenging learning environment for our students and staff.

From everything I have heard and experienced, I can see that this is a very special school, filled with dedicated, committed, and involved parents and staff, who truly function and treat each other as family. You can just feel the “heart”. I feel so lucky to be here with you and look forward to a wonderful school year working together and supporting our children and their education. My door is always open, and I hope you will stop by to introduce yourself.

I hope you have had a nice and fun-filled summer so far with your families and friends, and are feeling excited and energized to begin the school year.

Our custodial staff and District maintenance staff have been working hard to prepare the classrooms for the new school year.

I had the pleasure of meeting with the Garden Road PTA Leadership and Foundation Leadership to discuss the transition and share hopes and plans for moving forward. I am truly excited to work with all of you to provide wonderful and enriching experiences for our children.
