I am excited to announce that 96% of our first through fifth grade students met or exceeded their Accelerated Reader target goal during the seven week Fall Principal’s Reading Challenge. For those students who accomplished their goal, they will be invited to attend a special literacy assembly on Wednesday. Thank you parents for supporting your child in meeting their individual reading target.
On behalf of our PTA, I would like to thank our parent community for their support of our recently completed APEX Fun Run. During the course of this event, our students were taught some very important leadership skills. The APEX Team spent time in each of our classrooms sharing engaging lessons concerning being a “Legend” in the world. The lessons presented focused on learning, engaging, giving, empowering, never quitting, and doing. The students and staff had a great week working with this organization. Again, thank you Del Sur community for your support. The funds generated by this event will support our physical education and technology programs.
Student Council's Canned Food Drive for Feeding San Diego was a success. We collected 392 Pounds of food which meant that Feeding San Diego is able to offer 327 meals for San Diegans in need. A big thank you to all who donated. Upcoming Student Council events that will continue to support this great cause are Holiday Grams being sold before school next week to be delivered to students on Friday Dec. 16th during the school day, and Del Sur students helping to decorate brown bags that are used to give students in need of food over the weekends. Thanks again for helping make a difference in San Diego.
Mr. Johnson
