Poway Unified School District has identified the following goals for its CTE programs. These goals are aligned with the PUSD Local Control and Accountability Plan and CTE Advisory Committee recommendations.
2016-2017 CTE Goals:
GOAL 1: Develop and expand our CTE course offerings – particularly in high-skill, high wage and high demand areas.
GOAL 2: Create vertical articulation opportunities that link K-12 and post-secondary education to the workforce. We will develop and implement a CTE career-readiness continuum K-12 and will align CTE offerings among high schools and their feeder middle schools.
GOAL 3: Work with teachers on curriculum integration (CTE and core academic integration) and emphasize project-based learning; evaluate and strengthen what we’re asking students to do in terms of key assignments and projects.
GOAL 4: Expand opportunities for students and staff to have work-based learning experiences. Provide on-going opportunities for authentic, relevant, work-based experiences to students and staff through effective business and industry partnerships and participation in student organizations.
GOAL 5: Involve our business partners in meaningful ways.
GOAL 6: Increase awareness of CTE programs by all stakeholders (students, families, teachers, counselors, administrators, business partners, community partner) marketing plan.
Operational Goal: Maximize and leverage resources to ensure fiscal, facility and personnel resources are used efficiently and effectively.
