New Directions Independent Study

                                                            Previously attended the New Directions High School Program:

Students who have previously attended the New Directions (ND) High School Program must meet with their high school counselor to request a transfer.  If approved, the counselor will send a referral to ND.  After receiving the referral, ND personnel contacts the parent/guardian to schedule an enrollment appointment.


Never attended the New Directions High School Program:

Students who have never attended the ND High School Program follow the instructions below:

STEP 1:  Student and parent/guardian meet with the high school counselor to:

STEP 2:  If the transfer is approved by the high school counselor and administrator, a referral will be sent to New Directions.

STEP 3:    Student and parent/guardian VIEW the New Directions High School PowerPoint Presentation (20 minutes).
 

STEP 4:    After receiving the referral, New Directions personnel contacts the parent/guardian to schedule an enrollment appointment.

  • Students must continue attending classes on campus until the day before their enrollment appointment or they will be considered truant.
    • Discuss the reason for requesting the transfer,
    • Investigate options/interventions available on the campus in lieu of transferring.
    • Students must continue attending classes on campus until the day before their enrollment appointment or they will be considered truant.

STEP 1:  Student and parent/guardian VIEW the New Directions High School PowerPoint Presentation (20 minutes). 

STEP 2:    Visit the PUSD website at DISTRICT NEW STUDENT ENROLLMENT PAGE 

 
  • Fill out the District Enrollment Forms and take them to your school of residence. Click on the ADDRESS LOOKUP to verify your school of residence. Make sure you enroll at your school of residence.
  • At the District's New Student Enrollment page [click here]  follow steps 1 through 5; the required forms to complete (for each student) are:

              1.  Enrollment Form
              2.  Signature Verification Form
              3.  Home Language Survey
              4.  Residency Verification
              5.  Student Health Information

STEP 3:    Schedule an appointment by calling the counseling office at your school of residence. (Sorry, they cannot accommodate walk-in enrollments.)

 

STEP 4:    After the student has been enrolled at the school site and New Directions' personnel has been contacted, you will receive a call to schedule an enrollment appointment.
